Aarau: At least one person was killed and five others were injured after a shooting broke out at a rave event in Aarau, northern Switzerland, early Sunday, according to local police. Some of the injured were reported to be in serious condition.

The shooting took place at the “Aarau Rave VOL. 7” event in the Schachen district of Aarau, at a venue near the city’s horse-racing track. Police said the incident occurred at around 2:30 a.m., when a large number of people were attending the event.

Large Police Operation Underway

Following the shooting, Swiss authorities launched a major police operation and cordoned off a significant area around the venue.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspected shooter, who remained at large. Authorities have also appealed to the public to provide photographs or videos that could help investigators establish what happened.

Emergency services were deployed to the scene, while authorities urged people to avoid the area as the investigation continued.

Five Injured, Some Seriously

Aargau cantonal police confirmed that one person died in the shooting and five others were injured. Some of those wounded suffered serious injuries, although authorities had not immediately released further details about their identities or conditions.

The motive behind the shooting has not yet been established. Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and search for the person responsible.

Aarau is located around 46 km west of Zurich and is the capital of Switzerland’s Aargau canton.
