Jammu and Kashmir: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday defended the protest that led to the damage of a plaque bearing the Ashoka emblem at the Hazratbal mosque in Srinagar, arguing that the symbol is meant for government institutions, not religious sites. He said the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board should apologise for the “mistake”.
