A 25-year-old Hindu man, Mithun Sarkar, died in Mahadebpur in Naogaon district, Bangladesh, after jumping into a canal while trying to escape a mob that was chasing him on suspicion of theft. Police later recovered his body from the canal and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Local authorities say Sarkar’s attempt to flee.
