    Tarapith Hotel Fire: 7 Dead, Several Injured in West Bengal

    West Bengal: A fire broke out on the ground floor of a four-story hotel in Tarapith, West Bengal, around 5 a.m. on Monday morning. Most guests were asleep in their rooms at the time. The fire spread rapidly, causing panic throughout the hotel, leaving many trapped inside.

    7 Dead, Several Injured

    At least 7 people died in the accident, while several others were injured. The injured were taken to Rampurhat Government Medical College and Hospital for treatment. The hospital initially confirmed five deaths, but police later increased the death toll to seven.

    Fire Suspected to Be Caused by a Short Circuit

    According to hotel officials, the fire was caused by a short circuit. However, a detailed investigation is underway. A senior police officer also confirmed the death of seven people.

    Smoke suffocated

    A Kolkata woman who managed to escape the fire said that within minutes, the entire hotel was filled with smoke. Breathing became difficult, and finding a way out was extremely challenging. According to officials, some of the deceased included devotees who had come to Tarapith to worship at the famous Kali temple.
