Tarn Taran: After 16 Rounds of voting,  AAP’s Harmeet Singh Sandhu has won the Tarn Taran Bypoll. He defeated SAD’s Sukhwinder Kaur Randhawa by a huge margin of over 12 thousand votes.

The counting of votes for the by-election held on November 11 in Assembly Constituency 021, Tarn Taran, is underway. Please note that the counting of votes begun at 8:00 am at the International College of Nursing, Piddi, Tarn Taran.

Yesterday, the Returning Officer of the Assembly Constituency Tarn Taran, Gurmeet Singh, had said that a total of 15 candidates are in the fray during the by-election, while NOTA (None of the Above) has been added as number 16 in the EVM. He said that two halls have been set up for the counting of votes, in one of which the counting of EVM votes will be done.

He said that 14 counters have been set up for the counting of EVM votes, while the counting of postal ballot papers will be done in the other hall and 7 counting tables have been set up in it. He said that a staff of 3 counting staff will be sitting on each table, which will include a micro observer, a counting supervisor, and a counting assistant.

He said that the counting agents of the candidates will also be present during the counting. He said that the counting of votes will begin at 8:00 am and there will be a total of 16 rounds of counting.

Returning Officer Gurmeet Singh said that all the preparations have been completed at the counting center and the counting staff has also been trained. He said that adequate security arrangements have been made inside and outside the counting center and the entire counting process will be completed in a completely transparent manner in the presence of observers.
