Tarntaran: Teacher commits suicide after being cheated of Rs 20 lakhs, suicide note found

The sudden death of a government teacher posted in village Sakhira in Patti on February 2 was not due to taking the wrong medicine but due to committing suicide due to fraud of about Rs 20 lakh. This was revealed from the suicide note and video clip found after the phone of the said teacher belonging to Fazilka district was unlocked.

After which the police of the city police station Patti have registered a case against a person residing in Maharashtra and started further investigation.

Punjab and Haryana High Court lawyer Harpreet Singh Happy, son of Ajit Singh, resident of village Paliwala, district Fazilka, said in his complaint to the police that on April 2, his sister-in-law had informed him that his brother Gurpreet Singh (31), who is posted as a teacher in the Government Senior Secondary School located in village Sakhira in Patti, had taken some poisonous medicine under the mistake of fever medicine and had become unconscious.

When the entire family reached Patti, Gurpreet Singh had died. At that time, his father Ajit Singh and other family members did not express any suspicion on the death.

Following which, the police of the City Patti police station took action under section 194 BNS and conducted a postmortem of the body and the family also cremated the body in village Paliwala.

Then when his brother’s mobile was somehow unlocked and checked, a photo of a suicide note and a short video clip about his brother committing suicide were found in it. In which his brother had said that Kiran Punjabrao Kadam, son of Punjabrao Kadam, resident of Loleswar, district Hingoli, Maharashtra, was responsible for his death.

Who had repeatedly deposited about 20 lakhs in his account for a long time by luring his brother and when his brother asked for the money back, he was making excuses. Due to which his brother ended his life.

ASI Satnam Singh, who is investigating the case, said that based on the statements of Harpreet Singh Happy, Kiran Punjabrao Kadam has been named in the case and further investigation is being conducted.
