Teacher Arrested for repeatedly raping Minor Student In Kandhamal

Kandhamal, Odisha: The police have finally arrested the teacher who raped a minor girl student at a science fair in Gochhapada police station area of Kandhamal district.

The Gochhapada police have arrested Kunu Bhoi, a teacher of Kanibali Higher Primary School in Katringia Panchayat of Phulbani block under Gochhapada police station and produced him in court.

According to the incident, on November 21 last year, the teacher Kunu Bhoi had taken a brilliant student of class VIII studying in his school to a science fair in Phulbani. The said student had also displayed a science project.

However, it was evening by the time he returned from the science fair. While the teacher was returning with the said minor girl student, he took her into a secluded forest on the Phulbani-Gochhapada road and raped the student.

After this, the teacher in question had been regularly threatening and threatening the minor girl student and repeatedly having physical relations with her. The sexual desire of this ghost teacher had increased to such an extent that he would force her to commit sexual assault on the student every day when no one was in the school. The student’s mother came to know about this when the student fell seriously ill.

The student was initially afraid to mention the name of the said teacher out of fear. After the family members tried to convince her, the student confessed everything.

From November 21st to February this year, the ghost teacher Kunu Bhoi had repeatedly raped the student. After coming to know about this incident, the student’s family gave a written statement to the Gochhapada police station and the police registered a case and continued the investigation. Since this teacher was very influential, the police were afraid to take action against him.

A delegation led by Biju Janata Dal women’s president Poonam Kahur and Phulbani Municipal Council president Payel Behera met Kandhamal SP and demanded immediate action to arrest the teacher in question. Since the police remained silent for a long time, the locals met Kandhamal SP Harish BC and demanded immediate action.

On the instructions of the SP, an investigation team was formed and the investigation was intensified. Finally, the police arrested the teacher Kunu Bhoi and forwarded him in court.

Kandhamal SP Harish BC said,” After receiving the complaint by victim’s family in GOCCHAPADA police station immediately our police detained the teacher and had the inquiry after getting all the proves we booked a case having case no 35/2026 under section 64(2M) ,65(1) and 6 POCSO act. The teacher has been forwarded to court.We are out out best to give justice to the victim”
