Teenager with Nazi ideologue stabs Indian students in Russia

Russia: A 15-year-old teenager carried out a knife attack in a university dormitory in the Russian Republic of Bashkortostan on Saturday. At least six people, including four Indian students, were injured in the attack. The incident occurred at the Ufa State Medical University dormitory, where the accused entered with a knife and attacked the students.

According to eyewitnesses, the dormitory was in chaos and blood was everywhere. Russian TV channel Ren TV showed scenes of the injured being taken to the hospital in ambulances.

Extremist slogans, Nazi symbol drawn with blood

According to initial reports, the accused was shouting nationalist slogans related to the Holocaust during the attack. The Baza Telegram channel claimed that the teenager was associated with the banned NS/WP neo-Nazi organization and drew Nazi symbols on the wall with the blood of the victims.

The accused resisted even after police arrived. According to Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Major General Irina Volk, during the arrest, the accused stabbed two policemen and later injured himself.

Injured hospitalized, Indian Embassy active

The Russian Federal Health Ministry stated that one of the injured is in critical condition, while three others are in stable to moderate condition. The accused teenager has also been admitted to a local children’s hospital in critical condition.

The Indian Embassy described the incident as “unfortunate” and confirmed that four Indian students were injured. The Embassy said it is in contact with Russian authorities and officials from the Indian Consulate in Kazan are traveling to Ufa to assist the injured.

A high-level investigation has been launched in Ufa, about 1,200 kilometers from Moscow.
