Temperature drops in Punjab, chill intensifies due to western disturbance

Rainfall following a western disturbance has altered the weather in Punjab. The daytime temperature has dropped by 0.6 degrees Celsius in the past 24 hours. The maximum daytime temperature is currently 1.7 degrees below normal. According to the Meteorological Department, a slight drop is expected for the next two days.

Night temperatures, which had been above normal, have now dropped by 4 degrees, bringing the minimum temperature to normal levels across the state. According to the Meteorological Center, the state will now see a slight decrease in temperatures. This is the beginning of winter. Due to snowfall in the hilly areas, cold winds are also expected to blow across the state.

Minimum temperature recorded at 7.6 degrees

After a 4-degree drop in the minimum temperature in Punjab, temperatures in most cities across the state remained between 10 and 12 degrees. The lowest temperature was recorded in Faridkot at 7.9 degrees. Most districts also recorded maximum temperatures between 26 and 29 degrees. The highest temperature was recorded in Samrala, Ludhiana, at 30.7 degrees.

Amritsar’s minimum temperature was 10.7 degrees, Ludhiana’s 14.4 degrees, Patiala’s 18.4 degrees, Bathinda’s 12 degrees, and Gurdaspur’s 11.8 degrees.

351 cases of stubble burning reported

After a day of decline, stubble-burning cases have seen a significant surge. On Thursday, 351 cases of stubble burning were reported, with Moga recording the highest number of cases, at 46. 40 cases were reported in Muktsar, 31 in Sangrur, 29 in Ludhiana, 28 each in Ferozepur and Tarn Taran, 27 in Bathinda, 25 in Amritsar, 24 in Mansa and 21 in Patiala.
