Temperature Hits 43°C in Haryana; Advised to Stay Indoors Between 12 PM and 4 PM

The sun has turned unforgiving in Haryana. The state is gripped by severe heat, bringing daily life to a complete standstill. The situation is such that while scorching heatwaves make the days unbearable, even the nights now offer no respite. Nine cities are currently experiencing ‘warm night’ conditions.

In view of the severe heat, the government has swung into action; advisories have been issued across all districts, urging residents to stay indoors between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Conversely, schools are dismissing students between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM, thereby increasing the risk of heatstroke among children.

According to the latest data from the Meteorological Department (IMD), the state’s average maximum temperature has risen to 3.6°C above normal. Today, the department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for heat across a large portion of the state.

What to Expect from the Weather Today and Ahead

Severe Heat Expected in South Haryana

For today, April 24, the Meteorological Department has issued a dual alert—warning of both heatwaves and ‘warm nights’ for Haryana’s southern and southeastern districts (Gurugram, Faridabad, Rewari, Palwal, and Mewat), as well as for Kurukshetra and Karnal. Temperatures in these regions are expected to remain significantly above normal levels. There is also a likelihood of dusty winds blowing across the districts of Western Haryana.

‘Warm Night’ Conditions in 9 Cities

Even the minimum temperatures are now causing discomfort. In nine major cities across the state, the mercury has either crossed or neared the 25°C mark, creating ‘warm night’ conditions. Temperatures have reached 28.7°C in Nuh, 28.3°C in Charkhi Dadri, 28.0°C in Bhiwani, 26.4°C in Narnaul, 25.7°C in Gurugram, 25.7°C in Rohtak, 25.6°C in Panipat, 25.5°C in Ambala, and 25.4°C in Mahendragarh.

Hope for Relief in Two Days: Amidst the scorching heat, the relieving news is that a change in weather is expected starting April 26. On April 26, there is a possibility of scattered light drizzle in certain districts of North and South-Eastern Haryana (Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Gurugram, and Faridabad).

Subsequently, on April 27, the scope of rainfall is expected to expand; several districts across North and Central Haryana are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 km/h.
