New Delhi: A day before the results of Lok Sabha elections 2024, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in a press conference slammed those who questioned about the delay in release of voter turnout.
In a Press Conference, he said that the counting mechanism is robust and made in a way that no error can be made during the process of counting. The press conference was held a day before the counting of votes in which various insights of the Lok Sabha elections were given.
Main opposition party and a key member of the INDIA bloc have raised objections over the difference between the real-time voter turnout data and the final figures later released by the poll body.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar also mentioned that the counting process for the postal ballots will start before the counting of electronic voting machines (EVMs).
“Section 54 A of RPA Act was introduced in 1954. At that time, there were not much people for postal ballots. On all centres, counting of postal ballots will start first. After only half an hour, EVM counting will start first. It happened in 2019, it happened in all 2022 Assembly elections, it happened yesterday also in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim,” CEC said.
