Third TMC Rajya Sabha MP Resigns in a Week, Deepening Political Crisis for Mamata Banerjee

New Delhi: In a fresh setback for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress (TMC) Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Chik Baraik resigned from his post on Thursday, becoming the third party member to step down within a week.

Baraik is expected to meet Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan soon to formally submit his resignation.

His exit follows the resignations of Sukhendu Sekhar Roy and Sushmita Dev, marking a series of rapid developments that have raised concerns within the party.

With Baraik’s resignation, the TMC’s strength in the Rajya Sabha is set to decline to 10 members.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the party’s troubles may not be over yet, as as many as three more TMC Rajya Sabha MPs are reportedly considering stepping down in the coming days. If these reports prove true, it could further intensify the political challenges for the Mamata Banerjee-led party.
