Threat of bomb blasts in Mohali, Chandigarh and Jalandhar before PM’s visit; Several schools also mentioned

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Chandigarh and Punjab, several schools in Chandigarh and Mohali have received a new email threatening a bomb blast. The email claims that there will be multiple bomb blasts in Chandigarh, Mohali and Jalandhar on July 17. The email also threatens Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu.

Bomb blast threat ahead of Prime Minister’s visit

According to the email, bombs will be planted in schools in Chandigarh and Mohali as well as in the office of the Mohali mayor. It also threatens an IED blast at the railway stations of Chandigarh and Jalandhar.

Threat to blow up schools

Apart from this, the sender of the email has also claimed that schools will be targeted at 1:11 pm, while the office of the Mohali mayor will be attacked at 3:11 pm on July 17. The date coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana, where he is expected to inaugurate and announce several development projects.

The email also warned the people of Punjab not to attend the Prime Minister’s rally and claimed support for singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh.

6 schools in Mohali threatened

The threatening email mentions 6 schools in Mohali. After Shivalik Public School in Phase-6 of Mohali also received a threat, the school management has decided to close the school in view of security. Students who had come by school bus have been sent home as per the regular route. Currently, the police and security agencies are on alert and security around schools has been tightened.

Several cases have come to light earlier

For the past few months, schools, courts and other government and private institutions in Punjab had received threatening emails. In most cases, no explosive materials were found during the investigation, but security agencies are taking such incidents seriously.
