Three devotees from Punjab died during Mani Mahesh Yatra; Yatra halted amid heavy rains

Shimla, August 25: Two devotees died last night and one this morning in Mani Mahesh, Himachal Pradesh. All three devotees died due to lack of oxygen during the Mani Mahesh Yatra. Their bodies are being brought to Bharmour for postmortem. The police have registered a case and started further action.

The deceased have been identified as Aman (18), Rohit (18) from Pathankot, Punjab and Anmol (26) from Gurdaspur. The families of Aman and Rohit have been informed. After the arrival of the family members, the postmortem will be conducted in Bharmour. After this, the bodies will be handed over to the family members.

According to the local administration, Aman was rescued from Kamal Kund last night and died in Gaurikund, while Rohit died due to lack of oxygen on the Kugti track. Anmol died in Dhancho at 10 am today. The Mount Training and NDRF teams are bringing the bodies of both to Bharmour.

Administration stopped Manimahesh Yatra

SDM Bharmour Kulbir Singh Rana said that 3 devotees lost their lives last night and this morning. All three are residents of Punjab.

Yatra stopped due to heavy rain: SDM

SDM Bharmour said that due to continuous rain for the last 24 hours, a temporary ban has been imposed on the Manimahesh Yatra. Devotees have been instructed to stay at safe places. It has been raining heavily in Himachal for the last 24 hours.

Due to heavy rains, the Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway is closed due to landslides at many places. Due to this, the movement of vehicles has been completely stopped. Due to this, Mani Mahesh pilgrims are stranded at many places.
