12 Dead in Thrissur Fireworks Blast, CM Orders Action

At least 8–12 people are feared dead and over 40 injured after a powerful explosion ripped through a fireworks manufacturing unit in Kerala’s Thrissur district during preparations for the Thrissur Pooram.

Authorities continue rescue and recovery operations amid fears that casualties could rise further.

The blast was so powerful that its sound was heard several kilometers away. People in the vicinity initially mistook it for an earthquake. Following the incident, fire and thick smoke spread across the area.

Relief and rescue operations underway

Police, fire department, and rescue teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information about the incident. With the help of ambulances, the injured were immediately admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital and other nearby hospitals.
