Thunderstorms and rain wreak havoc in Bihar, 7 killed by lightning

Patna: A severe thunderstorm and rain have been continuing in Bihar since Friday morning. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for all districts in the state. Dark clouds have enveloped nearly 20 districts, including Patna, Khagaria, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Kaimur, and Chhapra, and darkness has descended during the day. Due to the dark clouds, people had to travel with their vehicle lights on.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain the same for the next three days.

 7 people killed by lightning

Seven people have died so far due to lightning in the state. A teacher and a farmer died in Aurangabad, while two people died in Gaya. Two girls were killed in Patna due to lightning. A young man died in Khagaria due to lightning.

Red alert issued in several districts

A red alert has been issued for heavy rains in Bhojpur, Gopalganj, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Nalanda, East Champaran, Saran, and Siwan districts.

In Patna, trees have fallen in several VIP areas due to the storm and rain, which are being removed with the help of JCBs. The Municipal Corporation has intensified its preparations to deal with waterlogging.

CM directs crop damage survey

The Chief Minister has directed the Agriculture and Disaster Management Department to survey the crop damage caused by the inclement weather.

Meanwhile, doctors have advised taking special care of pets during Nautapa. The persistent heat and temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius have increased the risk of heat stress and heat stroke in dogs and cats.
