Tibetan Activists Begin 90-Hour Hunger Strike Outside UN

New York, April 9: Tibetan activists allied with the regional Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) have launched a 90-hour hunger strike outside the United Nations headquarters in New York ,raising their voice and seeking global attention against China’s policies and worsening conditions in Tibet. The protest began on April 6 and is scheduled to continue until April 10.

    Protest Against China’s Policies

The activists say they are protesting against what they describe as oppression of Tibetan culture, religion and language under Chinese rule. They have also raised concerns over policies that they claim promote forced incorporation. Their demands include protection of Tibetan identity and greater freedom for people living in the region.

Protesters have called for the release of Tibetan political prisoners, including the Panchen Lama and urged international organizations to take notice of the situation. They are also demanding the repeal of policies they believe are harmful to Tibetan communities.

    Appeal to Global Community

By holding the protest outside the UN, activists aim to draw international attention to their cause. They are urging global leaders and human rights bodies to step in and address the issue.
