Traffic enforcement drive in Jammu: 445 challans issued, 60 vehicles seized

 Jammu: During a special enforcement drive aimed at strengthening road safety in the Jammu division, authorities issued 445 challans for violations of the Motor Vehicles Act and seized 60 vehicles for serious offenses, officials said on Monday.

They said the suspension of 64 driving licenses and 20 vehicle registration certificates has also been recommended for serious traffic violations. A total of ₹18.18 lakh in fines was collected during this campaign.

Campaign conducted in several districts
According to officials, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) launched this special campaign on Sunday on the instructions of Jammu and Kashmir Transport Commissioner Vishesh Paul Mahajan. The campaign was carried out in Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar, and Doda districts.

Vehicles checked at 24 checkpoints
As part of the campaign, 24 checkpoints were set up at strategic locations, where a total of 2,494 vehicles were checked. During the checks, 445 challans were issued for violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, while 60 vehicles were seized for serious offenses.

Numerous Traffic Violations Revealed
According to officials, district-level checks revealed a variety of traffic violations, including overloading, driving without valid documents, permit-related violations, overspeeding, and dangerous driving.
