Tragic accident in Chamba: Bolero car falls into ditch, 7 dead

Himachal Pradesh: Seven people were killed in a tragic road accident late Wednesday night in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The accident occurred near Chhatrun on the Chamba-Masrun road in the Pukhri area. The Bolero (HP-01C-2581) that was involved in the accident is said to be from Mahal village of the Gram Panchayat Kuthed.

According to information, residents of Mahal village had gone to attend a Mundan ceremony held in Kakadotha village of the Panchayat. After the ceremony, everyone was returning home in the Bolero.

Vehicle lost control and fell into a ditch

On the way near Chhatrun, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the Bolero fell into a deep ditch. The accident was so severe that the vehicle was completely damaged. Six people died on the spot in the accident, while another died later.

Villagers launched a rescue operation

Upon receiving news of the accident, people from nearby villages rushed to the scene and began relief and rescue operations. Villagers descended into the ditch to pull out the injured and dead. Police and administration teams later arrived at the scene.

Questions raised about safety arrangements

Local residents say that the accident site lacks crash barriers. They allege that if proper safety measures had been in place, such a major tragedy could have been avoided. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation, while the administration is identifying the deceased and completing other necessary formalities.
