Tragic accident in Ludhiana: Truck-Tractor collision kills one, one injured

A horrific accident occurred late Monday night, around 10:30 PM, on the Samrala Chowk flyover in Ludhiana. The impact of the high-speed collision was so severe that it snatched away the life of a family’s breadwinner.

A speeding container truck collided with a tractor-trolley traveling from Jalandhar Bypass towards Focal Point. In this tragic accident, Malkit Singh, a resident of Nichi Mangli, who was driving the tractor, died on the spot, while his son, Hardeep Singh, was injured.

The son witnessed his father’s death
The sheer horror of the accident can be gauged from the fact that it all unfolded before Malkit Singh’s young son, Hardeep Singh. Lying injured in the hospital, Hardeep Singh, weeping, recounted that the container truck’s impact was so powerful that he was disoriented for a few moments.

When he regained consciousness, he realized his father, Malkit Singh, was no longer on the tractor. Upon searching for him, he discovered that his father had fallen through a gap in the bridge after the collision.

Immediately after the accident, onlookers showed humanity and rushed to help. With the help of others, the injured Hardeep managed to get his father to CMC Hospital in an e-rickshaw, but doctors there declared Malkit Singh dead. Hardeep Singh also sustained minor injuries.

Malkit was sole earner
Malkit Singh was the sole breadwinner for his family. He is survived by a son and a daughter, both of whom are still studying. This accident has not only taken his life but has also left his entire family helpless. Two innocent children have lost their father. The police have reached the spot, registered a case against the container truck driver, and have initiated further proceedings.
