Truck Rams Into Parked Vehicle In Kaithal, 3 Killed; 8 Quintals Of Poppy Husk Found Hidden Under Bananas

Kaithal: Three people were killed after a speeding truck rammed into the rear of another truck parked on the Jammu-Katra Highway near Khark Pandwa village in Haryana’s Kaithal district. Police also recovered around 8 quintals of poppy husk concealed inside 40 sacks beneath a consignment of raw bananas in the speeding truck.

The deceased have been identified as Anil Kumar, the owner of the parked truck from Uchana in Jind, Ramniwas, a mechanic from Khark Pandwa village, and the driver of the truck that rammed into the stationary vehicle.

After receiving information about the accident, police reached the spot and shifted the bodies to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Doctors confirmed the deaths.

Mechanic Called After Truck Develops Technical Fault

According to the family, Anil Kumar was travelling from Delhi when his truck developed a technical problem. He parked the vehicle on the side of the highway near Khark Pandwa village and called a mechanic to repair it.

The mechanic, along with his helper, reached the spot and began working on the truck. During the repair work, a speeding truck approached from behind and crashed into Anil’s parked vehicle.

Anil Kumar and the mechanic Ramniwas died in the accident along with the driver of the speeding truck. The mechanic’s helper was also injured and has been admitted to hospital in critical condition.

8 Quintals Of Poppy Husk Found Hidden Under Bananas

The speeding truck was carrying raw bananas. During the investigation following the crash, police found around 8 quintals of poppy husk concealed in 40 sacks inside the vehicle.

Police seized the suspected narcotics and have begun investigating where the contraband was sourced from and where it was being transported.

Police Investigation Underway

A police team from Kalayat reached the accident site soon after receiving information. The bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations.

Investigating officer Vikram Singh said police are examining the circumstances of the accident as well as the recovered contraband. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
