The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Punjab Police has arrested two youths from Amritsar with a large quantity of heroin and drug money. According to the police, the suspects were intercepted and searched near Panniwala Mahla village on the Abohar-Sri Ganganagar road. During the search, 1 kg 5 grams of heroin and ₹3.90 lakh in drug money were recovered from their possession.
A significant amount of heroin and cash was seized during the search. The arrested individuals have been identified as Yuvraj Singh and Jagjit Singh, both residents of Amritsar. Yuvraj Singh (a resident of Antaryami Colony, Ranjha Di Haveli, Amritsar) and Jagjit Singh (a resident of Jheetay Kalan, near Golden Gate, Amritsar) were taken into custody by the police.
Smuggling Plot Hatched While Working at a Dhaba
Preliminary investigations revealed that Jagjit Singh ran a dhaba (roadside eatery) near the Suratgarh-Bikaner road and was allegedly involved in the smuggling of poppy husk there. It was during this time that he met Yuvraj Singh at a gurdwara in Amritsar.
Subsequently, he hired Yuvraj Singh to work at his dhaba. According to the police, the two conspired to smuggle heroin together; however, they were arrested during an operation near Abohar on Monday.
