Two brothers arrested in Pathankot with heroin; drug money also recovered

During a patrol on Monday, the Taragarh police apprehended two suspicious youths near the New Parmanand cremation ground and recovered heroin and drug money from their possession. The two accused are reported to be brothers and residents of the village of Bhoa Fatehgarh in Amritsar district.

According to reports, a Taragarh police team led by ASI Surinder Singh was patrolling and checking for suspicious individuals near the village of ‘Nawa Parmanand’. While the police party was passing the cremation ground, they spotted two youths standing there. Upon questioning and searching them, narcotics and cash were recovered. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sandeep Singh and Akashdeep Singh.

Attempted to discard packet upon seeing police

According to the FIR registered by the police, upon seeing the police party approaching, one of the accused—Sandeep Singh—panicked and threw a plastic packet from the right pocket of his trousers onto the ground. Acting swiftly, the police surrounded and apprehended both youths on the spot. The discarded packet was then seized and tested using a ‘Narcotics Drugs Detection Kit’, revealing the presence of 25 grams of heroin.

Drug money recovered during search

According to the police, a search of accused Sandeep Singh’s trouser pocket also yielded drug money amounting to ₹1,040. Subsequently, the police arrested both accused and registered a case against them under the NDPS Act. The police are now investigating the source of the heroin and determining to whom the accused intended to supply it.
