Two Cars Collide in Jalandhar: Mahindra XUV Damaged, Settlement Reached in Presence of Police

Jalandhar: Late Thursday night, a collision occurred between two vehicles near Chunmun Chowk in Jalandhar. The impact was so severe that all four airbags in the Mahindra XUV deployed, and the vehicle’s axle also snapped. Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries in the accident, and a major tragedy was averted.

In the presence of the police who arrived at the scene shortly after both parties reached a mutual written settlement. According to locals, such accidents occur frequently at this intersection due to malfunctioning traffic lights and poor lighting conditions at the chowk.

Eyewitnesses State: Accident Caused by Faulty Lights

Nikhil, an eyewitness present at the scene, stated that the traffic lights at the intersection were not functioning, and even the yellow warning light was off. Consequently, the drivers were unable to accurately judge the situation, leading to the collision. He added that people often drive at high speeds on this route while exiting the city, which is why accidents frequently occur here.

Driver Explains How the Collision Occurred

Neeraj Kumar (a resident of Jalandhar Heights), the driver of the second vehicle involved in the accident, explained that he was approaching from the direction of Amardas Chowk. During this time, the glare from the headlights of an oncoming vehicle obscured his vision, preventing him from seeing clearly.

Neeraj stated that he made every effort to avoid the vehicle, but a collision occurred nonetheless. He also mentioned that Dr. Saini was present in the other vehicle, and fortunately, neither party sustained any injuries.

Settlement Reached in Police Presence

Upon receiving information about the incident, ASI Dilbagh Singh from the Bus Stand Police Post arrived at the scene with his team. According to the police, the accident involved vehicles driven by Dr. Saini and Neeraj Kumar.

It came as a relief that no one was injured, and the damage was limited solely to the vehicles. Both parties have reached a mutual written settlement and have agreed to bear the costs of repairing their respective vehicles themselves.
