Two Children Killed, Nine Injured as Auto-Rickshaw Overturns in Dungarpur

Rajasthan: Two children were killed and nine others injured when an auto-rickshaw overturned in Dungarpur. The deceased included one-and-a-half-month-old Krish and three-year-old Arihant. The family was on their way to attend a Dhundh Ke program.

This accident happened near the Venja turn in the Chaurasi police station area at around 1.30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

Accident Near Home

The accident occurred just 100 metres from the family’s home. A family from Venja had left their house in an auto-rickshaw to attend a social function. Due to a steep slope and a sharp turn near the Venja turn, the driver lost control of the vehicle and the auto-rickshaw overturned. The accident claimed the lives of two innocent children.

Chaos at the Spot, Rescue Operation

The accident led to screaming and chaos at the spot. With the help of local residents, all the injured were immediately taken to the district hospital by 108 ambulance. One of the injured has been referred for further treatment.

The police deposited the bodies of the two children in the hospital mortuary. All the people travelling in the auto-rickshaw were members of the same family. They were going to attend a function together, but moments after leaving home, happiness turned into mourning. Police are investigating the incident.

Injured Family Members

The injured include Maya (27), wife of Nanuram; Banshi (70), son of Nanji Katara; Manjula (30), wife of Kantilal; Kanta (60), wife of Shankarlal; Saraswati (5), daughter of Shantilal; Lakshmi (25), wife of Shantilal; and Kanti (25), son of Nana.

Manjula, the mother of deceased child Arihant, was also injured in the accident.
