An argument broke out between the parties, escalating into a shooting in the heat of the moment.

    The full incident

A dispute arose between two parties in Batala, Gurdaspur, over passing each other with their vehicles. During the altercation, shots were fired from both sides. According to eyewitnesses, a young man in a Fortuner first drew a pistol and fired two or three rounds. In response, the Nihang on the other side returned fire, injuring one of the youths in the Fortuner. Subsequently, the other party fired a barrage of bullets, resulting in the death of the Nihang.

The youth who shot the Nihang then attempted suicide by shooting himself with his own pistol. Upon seeing that he had been shot, his associate stepped onto the Nihang’s body and fired two more shots. According to eyewitnesses, 15 rounds were fired at the scene.
