Two Kabaddi players die in Jalandhar; Bike collides with tractor-trolley

Two youths died and one was critically injured in a road accident on the Jalandhar-Moga National Highway. The accident is reportedly attributed to the negligence of a tractor-trolley driver. All three youths—the deceased and the injured—were friends and Kabaddi players.

On Friday evening, the three youths were traveling on a motorcycle from Malsian. A tractor-trolley loaded with paddy stubble was parked near the Ladra bus stop. It is alleged that the driver suddenly pulled the trolley onto the road without checking behind him. Consequently, the approaching motorcycle collided with the bales of stubble loaded on the trolley

Motorcycle Lost Balance

The impact was so severe that the motorcycle lost its balance, and all three youths fell onto the road. The situation worsened when they were struck by another trolley coming from behind. Two of the friends died on the spot.

Injured Youth Hospitalized

The deceased have been identified as Harjot Singh (16), son of Tirath Singh (resident of Pandhera village), and Gurdeep Singh alias Deepa (23), son of Angrej Singh (resident of Khanpur Dhadda village). Harjot Singh was a Class 12 student, while Gurdeep Singh had completed preparations to move to the UK in a few days.

Their third friend, Hardeep Singh (17), son of Sarabjit Singh (resident of Billa Chau village), was critically injured in the accident. He has been admitted to a hospital in Jalandhar for treatment.

Further Action Based on Victims’ Family Statements

Locals chased down and apprehended the accused tractor driver as he attempted to flee the scene and handed him over to the police. Station House Officer (SHO) Sadar, Parlvinder Singh, stated that both bodies have been moved to the mortuary at Nakodar Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations. The accused driver has been identified.

Legal proceedings have been initiated against him based on the statements provided by the victims’ family members. Upon receiving news of the accident, local MLA Indrajit Kaur immediately arrived at the Civil Hospital and offered solace to the affected families.
