Two smugglers arrested with 1.5 kg heroin in Jalandhar; pistol, bike recovered

In a major operation, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) in Jalandhar arrested two drug smugglers. 1 kg 564 grams of heroin, an illegal pistol, and a motorcycle used in the smuggling were recovered from the accused. During the arrest, the accused tried to escape in a police vehicle, but police fired in the air to apprehend them.

The Jalandhar Anti-Narcotics Task Force Range team received a tip-off. According to Sub-Inspector Sanjeev Kumar, information was received that two smugglers, Jaskaran Singh and Jagjit Singh, were arriving to supply a large consignment of heroin.

Police laid a trap near Patwari Dhaba on the Jalandhar-Phagwara Highway. As soon as the accused arrived, they were surrounded and arrested. During the search, 1 kg 564 grams of heroin, an illegal pistol, and a motorcycle (PB-02-DE-0743) were recovered from their possession.

A shocking incident occurred after the arrest. According to sources, while the police were loading the accused into their vehicle, they fled the scene, taking the police vehicle with them. The police then gave chase to the smugglers in a filmy style.

The arrested accused include 26-year-old Jaskaran Singh (son of Maan Singh), a resident of village Muchhal, Amritsar, and 29-year-old Jagjit Singh (son of Kaka Singh), a resident of Chamkaur Sahib, Rupnagar.

During interrogation, it was revealed that Jaskaran is a 10th-grade graduate and previously worked as a porter. Jagjit is a 12th-grade graduate and unemployed. Both men embraced this illegal trade, driven by the lure of quick wealth and the promise of high profits from drug trafficking.

The police will now present both accused in court and take them on remand. During the remand, an attempt will be made to find out from where they brought this consignment of drugs and who else is involved in their network.
