Youths open fire in air at Shiv Puri Chowk, Video sparks police action

Chandigarh: Two young men openly fired in the air at Shiv Puri Chowk on the Ludhiana-Jalandhar Highway in Ludhiana, Punjab. They were teaching each other how to use a pistol. In violation of the law, they fired and even filmed the shooting. One youth was teaching the other how to grip the pistol while firing.

When the video surfaced on social media, the police initially had difficulty locating the location. Upon reaching the location, the police investigated the matter. Checking several CCTV cameras, they discovered that some youths had been rioting near Shivpuri Chowk.

Youths opened fire while creating ruckus

During the riot, these youths openly fired bullets in the air. When the video reached senior officers, the Daresi police station registered a case against the accused. The case is being investigated by ASI Davinder Singh. Police have registered a case against two youths under sections 125 (criminal intimidation), 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act.

The accused have been identified as Harjaap Singh of Chandigarh Road, Sector 32A, and Mohit Khanna. Both are currently absconding. Police are investigating the past records of both men. The pistol used to fire is also being investigated to determine whether it is licensed or illegal. If it is licensed, its license will be revoked. Senior police officers will soon reveal details about this case.
