Two youths killed as car crashes into electric pole in Telangana

Hyderabad: Two youths were killed and another critically injured in a road accident in Telangana’s Jagtial district late Saturday night, police said. The accident occurred near Hanumajipet when a speeding car rammed into a roadside electricity pole. The deceased were identified as Sai Teja (22) and Navaneeth (22), while another youth, Srujan (22), sustained critical injuries and was shifted to a hospital.

Police said the three friends, all engineering students in Hyderabad, had come to Jagtial district to celebrate Sankranti at their native places. While returning after partying with friends near Porandla, the driver lost control of the vehicle, allegedly due to overspeeding and possible alcohol consumption.

Police Suspect Drunk Driving, Case Registered

According to police, two of the youths died on the spot before they could be shifted to the hospital. Preliminary investigation suggests that the person driving the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.

Multiple Accidents Reported Across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

In another accident in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, 13 people were injured when a trolley auto-rickshaw overturned near Seeta Nagar in Palvancha mandal late Saturday night. The injured were shifted to a hospital, where the condition of five was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, in Visakhapatnam in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, a newlywed woman died and her husband was injured after their car suffered a tyre puncture on the NAD Flyover. The deceased was identified as Rama Himaji (27). She and her husband, MVV Vinish, a software engineer based in Hyderabad, were returning to Visakhapatnam after offering prayers at Annavaram temple. The couple had been married just three months ago.
