UDAN connects 93 airports in India; 87 routes operational in UP

Lucknow:  651 routes have been launched under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN), connecting 93 unserved and underserved airports, 15 heliports, and 2 water aerodromes. In Uttar Pradesh, 87 routes are operational, connecting 12 airports.

Revised UDAN Scheme will enhance connectivity
The government has announced a revised UDAN scheme to enhance connectivity to 120 new destinations, including Uttar Pradesh. The plan aims to serve 40 million passengers over the next 10 years. The plan is currently in the approval stage.

Greenfield Airports and Security Measures
Under the Greenfield Airport Policy, 24 new airports have received in-principle approval, of which 13 are operational. The Airports Authority of India and DGCA are continuously ensuring infrastructure upgrades and air traffic safety.

Impact on Passengers
Under UDAN, 3.27 lakh flights have been operated so far, benefiting over 1.57 crore passengers and enhancing air connectivity in Tier-2 cities.
