Jammu: Joint security forces launched a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Sunday following reports of suspicious movement of unidentified persons in the area.

Officials said a massive cordon-and-search operation (CASO) was launched in the Jophar area of Ramnagar after intelligence inputs indicated the suspected movement of two to three unidentified individuals.

Teams of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Army cordoned off the area and began combing operations.

Security Forces Intensify Anti-Terror Operations

The search operation comes amid heightened security across the Jammu region following recent inputs about the movement of terrorists.

Security forces have intensified area-domination exercises and anti-terror operations across Jammu and Kashmir, with the Independence Day security arrangements still in place.

Joint teams of the Army, J&K Police and central paramilitary forces are maintaining heightened vigilance across sensitive areas.

Search Operations Continue Across Jammu Region

Security forces have also stepped up operations in forested areas of Doda, Rajouri and Poonch following recent intelligence inputs and suspected terrorist movement.

In Rajouri, forces have been conducting searches in the Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal forests in the Manjakote sector, while CASOs have also been carried out in forest villages of Poonch.

Security checks have also been intensified along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, particularly in Ramban and Nagrota, with increased frisking and checkpoint surveillance.

The search operation in Udhampur remains underway.
