Ujjain: The Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, Ujjain, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in the world, has seen an unprecedented increase in revenue this year, along with the number of devotees.
According to the temple committee, from January 1 to December 15, donation boxes and ticket sales generated over Rs 107 crore.
Significant jump in gold and silver donations
During this period, the temple received 592.366 kg of silver and 1,483.621 grams of gold, with a market value estimated at over Rs 13 crore.
Thus, the total income has reached approximately 1 billion rupees, which is approximately 150 million rupees more than the 920 million rupees recorded last year.
The number of devotees has set new records.
Temple administrator Pratham Kaushik stated that the devotion of devotees is continuously increasing:
Normal days: 120,000 devotees per day
Weekends: 150,000 to 175,000 devotees
This year so far: Over 55 million devotees
Between December 25th and January 31st: An additional 600,000 devotees are expected to arrive
The temple is also generating significant revenue from devotees purchasing cash, jewelry, quick darshan tickets, and laddu prasad.
Mahalok has increased its popularity
The construction of the magnificent Mahakal Mahalok Corridor has rapidly increased the temple’s appeal.
According to officials, the current revenue figures do not include revenue from Bhasma Aarti bookings, Abhishek Puja, Annakshetra, guesthouse bookings, photography fees, Bhang-Dhwaja bookings, and Ujjain Darshan bus service.
A new milestone possible before the year ends.
With only a few days left in the year, the temple management is hopeful that revenue will increase further, potentially setting a new record.
Kaushik said that these figures reflect the devotees’ immense devotion to Baba Mahakal.
