Unidentified miscreants attacked in religious program in Jalandhar; one youth died, many injured

A youth was murdered with sharp weapons by some unidentified youths during a religious program near Nanderpur in Jalandhar at around 1 am. Several people are also said to have been injured during the attack at the program. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, who was staying on rent in lane number three of Ashok Nagar in Nanderpur. He belonged to a poor family and had been living there for the last three months.

According to the information, the incident started with a fight during a religious program. Gopi had forbidden some youths from coming to his house with weapons, due to which he got angry.

After this, the accused in two vehicles attacked Gopi’s house. The accused attacked him on the head with sharp weapons and fired indiscriminately. Two women and a man were also injured in this attack.

According to the information received, Gopi died on the spot in the attack. While some other people were injured due to bullet fragments. The attackers fled after the incident. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police of Police Station-1 reached the spot and started investigation.

The police have started searching for the culprits along with scanning the CCTV footage of the surrounding area. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area, due to which additional police force has been deployed. Initial investigation has revealed that this incident is the result of old enmity and quarrel that took place during the program. The police have registered a case and started raids to arrest the culprits.
