New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget for 2026–27 in the Lok Sabha on Saturday, February 1. Following the Budget presentation in the Lower House, the documents will also be laid before the Rajya Sabha.
Ninth Consecutive Budget for Sitharaman
This will mark her ninth consecutive Budget since taking charge in 2019 and the third Budget of the Narendra Modi-led government in its third term.
Once the Budget speech concludes in Parliament, the full set of Budget documents will be made available on the official website and mobile app. After the presentation, the Finance Minister will also engage in an interaction with around 30 college students representing different regions of the country.
Wide-Ranging Pre-Budget Consultations Held
In the lead-up to the Budget, the Finance Minister conducted a series of pre-Budget consultations with a wide range of stakeholders, including economists, trade unions, and representatives from the education, health, MSME, trade and services, industry, financial sector, and capital markets.
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also held extensive discussions on issues related to agriculture and rural development and submitted a consolidated report of recommendations to the Finance Minister. Additionally, inputs were gathered from citizens, including youth, through various platforms during the Budget preparation process, many of which are expected to be reflected in the Union Budget 2026–27.
