Union Budget 2026–27 to Be Presented Today; FM Nirmala Sitharaman Set to Table Record Ninth Budget

New Delhi: Today, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget 2026–27 in the Lok Sabha. After the presentation in the Lower House, a copy of the Budget will be tabled in the Rajya Sabha. This will be the third Budget of the Narendra Modi government in its third term.

Ahead of the Budget, the Finance Minister held extensive pre-budget consultations with a wide range of stakeholders. These included economists, trade unions, representatives from the education and health sectors, MSMEs, trade and services, industry bodies, and participants from the financial sector and capital markets.

Focus on Agriculture and Rural Development

Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also conducted detailed pre-budget discussions on issues related to agriculture and rural development and submitted a compiled report of suggestions to the Finance Minister.

Record Ninth Consecutive Budget for Sitharaman

Finance Minister Sitharaman is set to present a record ninth consecutive Union Budget, making her the longest-serving Finance Minister to do so since assuming office in 2019. In her Budget speech, she will outline the government’s revenue and expenditure plans for the next financial year. The Budget is expected to lay down the government’s economic roadmap, with emphasis on growth, employment generation, and fiscal stability.

Citizen and Youth Inputs Reflected

During the Budget preparation process, inputs were also sought from citizens, including the youth, through various platforms, many of which are expected to be reflected in today’s Budget. The Budget documents will be available on the Union Budget Mobile App and the official website after the completion of the Budget speech in Parliament.

Parliament Budget Session Continues Till April 2

After presenting the Budget, the Finance Minister will interact with around thirty college students from different parts of the country. The Budget Session of Parliament, which began on 28th January, will continue until 2nd April.
