    Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu resigns; President accepts resignation

    MoS Railway and Food Processing Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu has resigned from the Union Cabinet. The Resignation has been accepted by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.

    The President has accepted his resignation. Information from the President’s Secretariat indicates that Ravneet Singh’s resignation from the Council of Ministers has been accepted on the advice of the Prime Minister. His resignation has been accepted with immediate effect.

    Bittu, who served as Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing, saw his Rajya Sabha term end on June 21, 2026, without renomination, mirroring the earlier resignation of George Kurian.
    Tenure of Ravneet Singh Bittu as MoS
    Ravneet Singh Bittu served as a Union Minister from June 11, 2024, to July 24, 2026. He held the portfolios of Minister of State for Railways and Minister of State for Food Processing Industries.  He served as a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan, with a term concluding in June 2026. He resigned from his post as Union Minister on July 24, 2026; the resignation was accepted by President Droupadi Murmu with immediate effect.
    Will Bittu now become active in Punjab politics?
    Ravneet Singh Bittu has already stated that he wishes to focus entirely on Punjab politics. With the assembly elections approaching next year, the BJP could project him as a prominent face in the state. It is believed that the party aims to strengthen its position in Punjab by fielding him in the election.
