Union Minister Scindia reiterates commitment to farmers, rural women Shivpuri (MP)

New Delhi: Union Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Friday reiterated the importance of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed with Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on January 7. Addressing a public meeting in Badarwas, Shivpuri district, he said the government is implementing a real-time monitoring system to ensure transparent and timely fertilizer supply to farmers.

Focus on economic empowerment of rural women

Scindia emphasized the second MoU, stating that it aims to economically empower rural women by training them through the India Post Payments Bank. Under this initiative, women will be responsible for opening bank accounts in villages, generating monthly income of ₹15,000 to ₹30,000 and strengthening financial inclusion at the grassroots level.

Inauguration of a Modernized Sub-Post Office in Badarwas

On Friday, he inaugurated a modernized sub-post office in Badarwas. This historic building, located near an ancient temple, has been fully equipped with modern facilities. The minister explained that this is part of the Postal Modernization Campaign, which began in 2009 and has so far upgraded 50 post offices in the region.

Ultra-modern sub-post offices also dedicated in Kolaras and Jagatpura

Earlier in the day, Scindia also dedicated new, state-of-the-art sub-post offices to the public in Kolaras and Jagatpura in Shivpuri district. He said that these advanced facilities will serve as a “window to the world” and provide citizens with accessible, timely, and reliable postal services with world-class infrastructure.

“The postman doesn’t just deliver letters, he also delivers emotions”

Underlining the role of postal employees, the Minister said, “The postman doesn’t just deliver letters; he carries emotions from one home to another and across borders.” Citing a famous dialogue from popular culture, he cited actor Sunny Deol and said that today’s postman also brings a bank along with the letter.

Emphasis on Post Office Savings Bank, Insurance, and Sukanya Samriddhi

Scindia also highlighted the importance of the Post Office Savings Bank, insurance schemes, and the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana. He described the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana as a seed sown by parents that grows into a banyan tree, securing the future of daughters.

Goal to make the Postal Department globally recognized

The Union Minister expressed confidence that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s Postal Department will soon achieve global recognition for its service quality. He reiterated the government’s commitment to further integrate postal services into the lives of citizens and ensure modern, citizen-centric, and reliable services.
