UP: Inspection of School Vehicles Intensifies; Registrations of 40 Vehicles Suspended

In Agra, 2,990 school operators have not yet submitted the affidavits regarding the operation of school vehicles. Out of a total of 5,690 schools, only 2,700 have submitted this affidavit. On April 1st, the government launched the Uttar Pradesh Integrated School Vehicles Monitoring Portal (UP ISVMP) to make the oversight of school vehicles stricter and more transparent. Details of all school vehicles are required to be uploaded to this portal.

However, so far, data for only 1,100 out of a total of 1,216 vehicles has been successfully uploaded. Despite strict measures by the Transport Department, a large number of school operators are dragging their feet in providing vehicle details. These school operators are displaying a marked indifference toward furnishing the necessary vehicle information.

The department has established specific standards for school vehicles. Upon entering a vehicle’s registration number into the portal, its status regarding registration, fitness, pollution compliance, and insurance becomes immediately visible.

If a vehicle is deemed “unfit,” the portal will flag it with a red mark, enabling the ARTO to immediately have that bus removed from the roads. Action will be taken against any school managers who fail to share their vehicle information on the portal or who submit false details.

If inspections reveal any technical defects in a bus or any tampering with its documentation, action will be initiated against the concerned school manager. In this regard, ARTO (Administration) Vinay Kumar Singh stated that 1,100 vehicles have been inspected so far. The registrations of 40 vehicles have been suspended. The monitoring of these vehicles is being conducted on a continuous basis.
