The written examination for recruitment to Sub-Inspector posts in the Uttar Pradesh Police began under strict security arrangements across the state. The large-scale exam is being conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) and has drawn more than 15 lakh candidates from across the state.

Authorities have introduced stringent frisking and monitoring measures to ensure a fair and transparent examination process. At many centres, candidates were asked to remove shoes, belts and other accessories during security checks to prevent the use of hidden electronic devices or unfair means.

Over 15 lakh candidates appearing in exam

The recruitment exam is being organised to fill 4,543 posts of Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) and equivalent ranks in the state police force. According to official data, 15,75,760 candidates have registered for the examination, including over 11.66 lakh male candidates and more than 4 lakh female candidates.

The exam is being held on March 14 and March 15 in two shifts each day. A total of 1,090 examination centres across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh have been selected to conduct the test.

To facilitate candidates, authorities have tried to allot exam centres within the same division, especially for women candidates, to reduce travel inconvenience.

Strict security and frisking at exam centres

To maintain the integrity of the examination, the recruitment board has implemented strict security protocols. Candidates are subjected to detailed frisking with handheld metal detectors before entering the exam halls.

In many centres, examinees were instructed to remove shoes, belts and other items during the checking process. Officials advised candidates to wear slippers or sandals so that security checks could be completed quickly.

Apart from frisking, the examination centres are under three-tier CCTV surveillance, with monitoring systems at the centre level, district control rooms and the board headquarters.

Aadhaar-based verification and biometric checks are also being used to ensure that no impersonation takes place during the exam.

FIR registered over Telegram paper leak claims

Meanwhile, authorities have also taken action against alleged attempts to mislead candidates through social media. An FIR has been registered after several Telegram channels claimed to provide leaked question papers for the recruitment exam.

Investigations revealed that some channels were asking candidates to pay ₹10,000 to ₹20,000 in exchange for the supposed exam paper before the test. Police believe these claims were fraudulent attempts to cheat aspirants and create confusion about the examination process.

Officials from the recruitment board said such activities could harm the integrity of the exam and strict action will be taken against those involved in spreading misinformation or attempting fraud.

Measures to ensure fair recruitment

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board has emphasised that all possible steps are being taken to conduct the exam fairly and transparently.

Authorities have deployed large numbers of police personnel at exam centres, and strict monitoring is being carried out to prevent cheating, impersonation and use of electronic devices.

Candidates have also been urged to ignore rumours regarding paper leaks and rely only on official information released by the recruitment board.

With lakhs of aspirants appearing for the test, the examination is considered one of the largest police recruitment drives in the state, and the administration has made extensive arrangements to ensure that the process remains secure and credible.
