UP declares 2-day holiday for Ram Navami, security tight

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a two-day public holiday on March 26 and 27 on the occasion of Ram Navami. The decision was taken considering the large number of devotees expected to participate in religious events across the state.

Earlier, only March 26 was declared a holiday, but the government extended it to March 27 as well to facilitate smoother celebrations and crowd management.

Officials said the move aims to provide relief to devotees visiting temples and participating in processions. Major religious cities like Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Mathura are expected to witness heavy crowds during the festival.

With back-to-back holidays, people will get more time for travel, reducing pressure on a single day. Authorities believe this will help ensure better management of large gatherings.
