UP: Scorching Heat Alert Issued for these districts, Check Forecast

Weather patterns in Uttar Pradesh continue to fluctuate. On May 13 and 14, severe storms and gusty winds caused extensive damage across several districts. In many areas, trees and electricity poles were uprooted, disrupting daily life. Conversely, in the Bundelkhand region and the southern districts, scorching heat and intense sunshine have compounded the difficulties faced by the public.

The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for Saturday for eight districts in the Bundelkhand region: Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur. The department states that in the coming days, the impact of the heat and scorching temperatures will rapidly extend to the central parts of the state.

On Friday, Banda recorded a temperature of 43.6 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest city in the state. Additionally, the heat remained intense in Jhansi, Orai, Prayagraj, and Agra.

According to Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, there is currently no active weather system prevailing in the state. Consequently, the weather is expected to remain dry, and due to radiative heating, temperatures could rise by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next five days. Meanwhile, an ‘Orange Alert’ for severe heat has been issued for several regions for May 18 and 19.
