UP: Weather disturbance to become active again; severe heat alert issued for several areas

The weather patterns in Uttar Pradesh have been constantly shifting. For the past week, several parts of the state have been experiencing spells of strong winds and light rainfall. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather across the state is expected to remain relatively stable and dry on Monday, May 11.

Subsequently, due to the activation of a weak Western Disturbance, cloud cover is expected to increase in the Terai regions of both Western and Eastern UP between May 12 and 15, with the possibility of light drizzle in isolated areas.

On Sunday, an increase in heat was recorded across most districts of the state due to bright sunshine; however, conditions did not reach the level of a heatwave. In most locations, temperatures still remain below normal levels. According to Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, cloud activity is expected to persist in the *Terai* regions for the next three to four days, starting Tuesday. During this period, there is a likelihood of intermittent light rainfall; nevertheless, temperatures could still rise by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius.

On Sunday, Prayagraj recorded the highest maximum temperature at 39.6 degrees Celsius. Banda recorded 39.2 degrees, while Varanasi and Agra registered temperatures of 38.5 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Hamirpur experienced the warmest night, with a temperature of 26.2 degrees Celsius.

Bright Sunshine Returns to the Capital; Mercury Set to Rise
For the past week, the weather in the capital city had been constantly fluctuating. Spells of strong winds and occasional drizzle led to a drop in temperatures, offering residents some relief from the heat.

Now, however, there are indications that the weather is stabilizing. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in the capital will remain dry starting Monday, and temperatures are expected to rise steadily.

On Sunday, the heat intensified right from the morning as the sun shone brightly. Between last Thursday and Sunday, the maximum temperature rose by 5.5 degrees Celsius. Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, stated that the maximum temperature could rise by approximately 6 degrees Celsius over the coming week.

Consequently, residents may once again have to contend with intense heat in the days ahead. On Sunday, the maximum temperature was 35 degrees Celsius, up 1.1 degrees, while the minimum was 25.6 degrees Celsius, up 1.2 degrees.
