The UPSC Civil Services Examination is widely regarded as one of the toughest exams in India, involving multiple stages including the preliminary exam, main written examination and personality test. A total of 958 candidates has been recommended for appointment to various civil services based on the 2025 examination results.

Speaking about his success, Agnihotri said that the journey was far from easy and involved several ups and downs, but determination and consistent effort helped him achieve his goal.

    From Rajasthan to National Spotlight

Anuj Agnihotri hails from Rawatbhata in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district. His remarkable achievement has brought pride not only to his family but also to the entire state.

He completed his schooling in Rawatbhata before moving ahead for higher studies. Agnihotri later pursued MBBS from AIIMS Jodhpur, showcasing a strong academic background even before entering the civil services arena.

Despite having a promising career in medicine, he decided to pursue civil services, believing it would offer a broader platform to serve society and work across different sectors of governance.

    Success Came in Third Attempt

Agnihotri’s success story reflects resilience and perseverance. His first attempt at the examination resulted in his selection for the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS), a Group-B central service.

In his second attempt, he reached the interview stage but could not make it to the final list. However, instead of giving up, he continued preparing with renewed determination.

Finally, in his third attempt, he secured the top rank in the country, turning years of hard work into a historic achievement.

Discipline and Hard Work Behind the Achievement

Agnihotri credited his success to disciplined preparation and continuous learning. He followed a structured study routine and used online coaching resources during his preparation.

According to reports, he maintained strict focus during his preparation period and worked consistently to improve his understanding of subjects and current affairs.

His journey demonstrates that success in the UPSC examination requires patience, perseverance and a strong commitment to long-term goals.

    Support from Family

Agnihotri also acknowledged the role of his family in his success. His father works at the Rajasthan Atomic Power Station in Rawatbhata, while his mother is a homemaker who supported his educational journey.

Coming from a modest background, Agnihotri said that his family had always encouraged him to pursue his dreams and focus on education.

He also noted that no one in his family had previously been a doctor or civil servant, making his achievement even more special for them.

    Inspiration for UPSC Aspirants

After the announcement of the results, Agnihotri expressed happiness and said it would take time to fully process the achievement. His success story has quickly become an inspiration for thousands of UPSC aspirants across the country.

Experts believe that such success stories encourage young candidates to remain persistent despite setbacks and difficulties during preparation.

With his top rank, Agnihotri is now expected to join the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and contribute to governance and public service in the country.
