US Attacks Iran’s Qeshm Island; Claims Tehran fired missiles at Kuwait and Bahrain

This crisis in West Asia has been fraught with immense tension and devastation. The war began with a conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Gradually, Lebanon’s Hezbollah faction was also drawn into the fray. Hezbollah launched a barrage of rockets at Israel. In retaliation, Israel initiated airstrikes against Lebanon. Israel eliminated top Hezbollah commanders in Beirut.

The United States has claimed that its military successfully thwarted a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting neighboring countries in the region. Concurrently, the US also carried out retaliatory strikes against Iran’s Qeshm Island.

In an official statement, US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that Tehran had launched a wave of aerial attacks across the region. The military command noted that Iran fired multiple ballistic missiles toward its regional neighbors; however, all of them failed to reach their intended targets.

Detailing the defensive actions undertaken in coordination with regional allies, CENTCOM revealed that two Iranian missiles fired at Kuwait either failed to reach their destination or were destroyed en route. Meanwhile, three missiles launched toward Bahrain were promptly intercepted by US and Bahraini air defense forces.

No Blockade If Strait of Hormuz Had Been Opened: Rubio
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the sole reason for the blockade is that Iran is firing upon commercial vessels. The rationale behind this is that if other nations’ ships cannot exit, then Iran’s ships will be unable to exit as well. Had Iran agreed to fulfill the commitment it made at the time the ceasefire went into effect—namely, to open the Strait of Hormuz—this blockade would not have occurred. Their actions are unlawful and illegal and everyone opposes them.
