New Delhi: US President Donald Trump has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be part of the “Board of Peace” being formed to establish lasting peace in Gaza. In this regard, President Trump sent a letter to Prime Minister Modi, which was shared on social media by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor.
In his letter, President Trump stated that he would be honored to have Prime Minister Modi join him in his efforts to strengthen peace in the Middle East and advance a new and bold approach to resolving global conflicts.
Initiatives Related to the Second Phase of the Gaza Ceasefire
The “Board of Peace” has been introduced as part of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Washington views this proposed platform as a new international mechanism to bring peace and stability to Gaza and beyond.
In his letter, President Trump also mentioned his comprehensive plan announced on September 29th to end the Gaza conflict. He also cited his 20-point roadmap for achieving peace in the Middle East.
Vision for a Terror-Free and Secure Gaza
The 20-point plan calls for establishing Gaza as a terror-free and extremist-free zone, ensuring it poses no threat to its neighbors. Trump also noted that in October, Israel and Hamas agreed on key points of his peace proposal, which led to the ceasefire process.
This invitation to Prime Minister Modi demonstrates the United States’ desire to move forward with multilateral and global leadership in resolving conflicts in the Middle East.
