US ship ‘Pyxis Pioneer’ arrives in Mangaluru carrying LPG

Mangaluru:  Amid the global supply chain crisis, the US cargo ship ‘Pyxis Pioneer’ arrived at New Mangalore Port on Sunday carrying a large consignment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), which is expected to increase supplies in the country.

Large consignment of 16,714 tons of LPG
The ship arrived from Texas, USA, and arrived at the port with a gross tonnage of 47,236 tons. According to officials, 16,714 tons of LPG will be unloaded from it.

Relief amid supply crisis
Officials said that security checks and unloading are underway. The arrival of this large consignment is expected to strengthen fuel supplies, especially in South India.

Several Ships Arrived Earlier
Earlier, the ship “Aqua Titan” and another vessel loaded with Russian crude oil also arrived in Mangaluru. Meanwhile, LPG tankers “Nanda Devi” and “Shivalik” have also arrived on India’s western coast.

LPG Shortage Persists in Karnataka
Karnataka is currently facing a shortage of commercial LPG cylinders. The state requires approximately 40,000 cylinders daily, but only 1,000 are currently available. The government has appealed to hotel operators for cooperation for a week.
