Jalandhar: Farmers from various organizations have organized a protest outside the sugar mill in Phagwara, leading to the blockage of the Ludhiana-Jalandhar National Highway.
The police have redirected traffic from Goraya through village roads to Jandiala and then to Jalandhar. The farmer leaders have stated that they will continue their protest until their demands are met.
As a result of the protest, people travelling from Ludhiana or Delhi to Jalandhar, or through Jalandhar to other destinations, are facing difficulties. Heavy traffic jams have been reported on the highway.
The Bharatiya Kisan Union Rajewal has blocked the National Highway near Jalandhar Haveli to stage a sit-in protest over the non-procurement of paddy in the mandis.
The farmers stated that they had no other option. Additionally, the Bhartiya Kisan Union Doaba has blocked the National Highway outside the Sugar Mill in Phagwara over the issue of lifting paddy. As a result of the highway blockage, people are experiencing difficulties.
