Uttar Pradesh Cold Wave Intensifies, Dense Fog Engulfs 30 Districts

Lucknow: The cold wave in Uttar Pradesh is now intensifying. On Friday morning, dense fog enveloped around 30 districts including Lucknow, Barabanki, Bareilly and Gorakhpur. Road visibility in many areas dropped to less than 10 metres, disrupting traffic and causing a lot of trouble to drivers.

Kanpur remains coldest for second consecutive day

Kanpur remained the coldest city in the state for the second consecutive day. The minimum temperature here was recorded at 6.4 degrees Celsius on Friday. The increasing cold has increased the shivering of people in the morning and night.

Pollution increases in Delhi-NCR, Ghaziabad worst

Air pollution in Delhi-NCR has reached critical levels. Ghaziabad recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 422, which falls in the very poor category. Meanwhile, Saharanpur recorded an AQI of 303. The polluted air is causing difficulty in breathing for people.

Dense fog warning in Purvanchal and Terai regions

The Meteorological Department has issued a dense fog warning for the northern districts of Purvanchal and the Terai region of western Uttar Pradesh for the next two to three days. The temperature is expected to drop by about 3 degrees Celsius during this period.

Western Disturbance to change the weather

According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance may become active in the western Himalayan regions after this. This will bring easterly winds and light clouds in the sky. This may increase the minimum temperature by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.

Weather forecast for the next three days

December 14: Fog will prevail in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. Visibility may fall to 100 metres at many places. Light rain is also expected in some areas.

December 15: Light fog is expected in western Uttar Pradesh, while dense fog is expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh. Visibility is expected to fall from zero to 100 metres.

December 16: The weather is expected to remain clear in western Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog may prevail in the Terai region of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Wind speed may reach 20 kmph.

Caution appeal

The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to avoid unnecessary travel due to fog and cold and to exercise extreme caution while driving.
