    Uttarakhand: Woman Killed in Leopard Attack Near Khandah Village on Srinagar-Pauri Road

    Pauri: A woman was killed in a leopard attack near Khandah village on the Srinagar-Pauri road in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district, forest department officials said.

    The victim, identified as Bina Devi, was cutting grass in a field near the village along with other women when the leopard attacked her. The incident took place between 5 am and 6 am on Friday, according to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Mahatim Yadav.

    Forest Department Team Reaches the Spot

    After receiving information about the attack, forest department officials, including the local forester and forest guard, rushed to the spot. DFO Mahatim Yadav also reached the location with his team.

    Speaking about the incident, Yadav said the department had received a report that Bina Devi had been killed in a leopard attack during the early morning hours.

    ” A report was received that a woman named Bina Devi was killed by a leopard between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM. Upon receiving the information, our team—including the local forester and forest guard—immediately rushed to the site; I also arrived shortly thereafter with the full team. An examination of the deceased’s body confirmed that she had been killed by a leopard,” Yadav said.

    Team Deployed to Capture Leopard, Villagers’ Safety a Priority

    The DFO said senior officials had been informed about the incident and a team had been deployed to capture the leopard.

    According to Yadav, the forest department is prioritising the safety of villagers following the attack. The victim had been cutting grass in the fields near the village when the incident occurred, accompanied by other women.
